Hello Folks I have an RS 485 network using FAISONET cards, it serves 9 D05's and is running Lookout on a very fast PC. The problem is the scan rate to the PLC's, it takes about 2 minutes to scan all PLC. The stats are as follows: LOOKOUT: com driver poll rate = 100 ms LOOKOUT LINKS: baud 38400, parity=odd, data bits=1,flow=rts/cts,timeout=1000ms, data timeout=20,000ms, retries=2 PLC's PORT 2: time out=4000ms, rts on delay=100ms, rts off delay=5ms, baud=38400, stop bits=1, parity=odd. Lookout handles about 225 points including 9 charts with a single pen each. Except for the charts, the other points never change. The trend and object resolution is at .1. Can any one out there think of some way to increase the scan time from the existing 2 minutes? Thanks to all in advance CET

Sorry......it is an RS422,4 wire network.

Never tried Lookout with anything but ethernet, but my guess is that you 've got Lookout polling the network so often that the time for data is actually very short. Try changing your poll rate to 500ms and see if you have better overall performance.

Good Morning and thanks for your time and reply.
I changed the poll time to 500,1000, 5000,10000 and 18000, it still takes approx. 2 minutes to poll all the PLC's.
I'm stumped, the slot on my D05 is taken up by an analog card so ethernet is out of the question.
Anyone out there have any idea ?

Nope, the only communication is with lookout.
No control, only data.
Geez you guys are quick with the responses,

No data errors, I do get errors when the data timeout is below 5,000 ms.

Is your network terminated correctly? If you connect an ohm meter at either end of the network does it show the proper impedance? I 've had odd issues on proprietary networks when things weren't terminated with the proper impedance before.
