Don't get rid of the XP software just yet. I keep one or two around for work. Just to share one experience. I found this older H4-Ecom Card I wanted to use. Since i am using it in a local system, it is just fine. Anyhow I did not know the address so i thought I could use my Win7 notebook to find it. Well, that did not go so well. I tried netedit and IPconfig in the new DoMore software and no luck. So knowing XP has IPX available, I went that route and it worked. I changed the address. So I install the Ecom into the system. Plug in the ECOM ethernet port and guess what, I can not read the address. Again i tried both DS6 and DoMore and no luck, nothing, it does not exsist. But since I knew the address I was able to setup the comms and i was able to connect to the PLC and do what I needed to do. If anyone is thinking, yes I had my notebook set to 192.168.000.xxx when I installed the card into the system. I forgot to mention I had to upgrade the firmware while I was attached to the XP computer. Anyone have any ideal why win7 netedit will not pick up on a H4-ECOM, it is not a ECOM100. I did not try the IPconfig that comes with DO More when i finally installed the Ecom card, knowing the address. I did not have the time to do it. I will try it tomorrow or when I get back to work. Tomorrow is a big storm coming so I do not think I will go in tomorrow

One possibility is the default order of Ethernet adapters. Older versions of Windows sent broadcasts out every port. Newer versions do not. From NetEdit, be sure to select the correct adapter from the menu. In many cases that is required to work properly.

I will check that next time with NetEdit. I do remember IPconfig in Do More asking which adapter. Not sure why IP config did not work either. I tried putting my notebook adapter to Obtain IP address automatically. Also tried several manual settings. which way is preferred or does it matter?

Doesn't matter as long as the IP addresses are on the same logical network (Netmask & PC Address == Netmask & ECOM Address). The key is making sure that the config broadcasts are going out the port where the ECOM is connected. In NetEdit, on new Windows, in many cases it won't work until you select the right adapter.
