Do you have access to change the program in the compact Logix? If so i have used ethernet IP implicit messaging between compact Logix and productivity series many times with success. The productivity help file has examples on to do this.

I would prefer not to make any changes to the CompactLogix hardware configuration. However, if the only requirement is to add a messaging instruction to the Allen-Bradley PLC logic, that would be acceptable. Also, is it possible for the Productivity PLC to read data over Ethernet without requiring any modifications to the CompactLogix PLC program?

Without additional hardware I am not aware of any way for the productivity 1000 to communicate to the compact logix with out changes in the compact logix PLC.

If there is an HMI you could use it as a communication bridge. you could also use a python script with pylogix to communicate with the compact logix and pymodbus to communicate with the productivity 1000. Both would work but it would be better to just make the changes in the compact logix to communicate directly with the Productivity 1000.

    Thank you for your help.

The CompactLogix PLC is quite old and communicates over DeviceNet, which is why I am trying to establish a connection without making any changes to the existing system. I am currently considering using a Productivity2000 P2-622 PLC. Do you think this would be a suitable solution for this application?

Would the P2-622 be replacing the CompactLogix or are you trying to communicate to the CompactLogix with the P2-622 without changing the program in the CompactLogix.

If you are looking to replace the CompactLogix with the P2-622 i would need more info. If you are looking to communicate to the CompactLogix with the P2-622 it would be no different than the P1-540
