CM5 with D4-430
I search the forums but couldn't find a solution. I tried using the EA-4CBL-1 rom port 1 on the HMI to the 15pin port on the 430. Everything appears to be setup correct on the HMI end. I tried both K-sequence and DirectNet. I haven't tried connecting to the 25 pin port on the 430. My issue is in the CM5 manual. The pinouts for EA-4CBL-1 and EA-4CBL-2 and nothing like the "user constructed" cable for D4-430. I really need to figure this out since we are currently using very old Nematron HMI's that are slowly failing and need to be replaced with the CM5's.
Thank you
Concerning your issue "pinouts for EA-4CBL-1 and EA-4CBL-2 and nothing like the "user constructed" cable for D4-430". What D4-430 "user constructed" pinout are you referring to? Are you referring to the schematic on Page 4-19 of the DL405 manual? This schematic is for RS-422 wiring on the bottom port, 25-pin connector for both ports 1 and 3. The C-more cables use RS232 wiring. The top, 15-pin connector, port 0, uses K sequence, RS232. So your EA-4CBL-1 should work. What alarm do you get on the HMI?
I'm not getting any alarms, just the no cummunication message
Make sure when you select the K Sequence driver in the Cmore software, that you are also setting the "Select 485" option to No. Then the EA-4CBL-1 should work. Also double check the standard baud, parity and stop bits for any serial connection.
Select 485 is selected to no. Baud rates, parity and stop bits are the same for the CM5 and 430
RTS and CTS also set to "No" in the HMI? In addition to all the comm. settings for your connected "DEV", make sure that all the HMI objects are linked to your connected "DEV", and the HMI does not have any objects that are still linked to an obsolete "DEV". If it were me, I would do process of elimination, while triple checking comm. settings. I would check continuity pin-to-pin and/or try another EA-CBL-1. I would try to connect to the PLC Port 1 using the EA-4CBL-2. I would try to connect using another HMI serial port. I would try to connect to a PLC ECOM module from an HMI Ethernet port. If I could connect using another port or cable, this would indicate a bad port or cable. If I could not connect using any cable or port, I would call tech support!
