Hphillips (Customer) asked a question.
I have a click plus C2-03. When I first received it, I was able to connect to it with the latest software. I was walking through a tutorial trying to teach myself how to program PLCs and one of the steps in the video was to update the PLC firmware. It failed a few times but eventually I was able to get it to 100% but it failed again, this time on the 2/4 phase(main CPU) update. Now I can no longer even connect to the CPU.
The connection test passes.
The button to Blink ERR and RUN button does make the lights blink
I have tried multiple USB micro cables.
I have deleted AppData folders, uninstalled all drivers, uninstalled the software. Rebooted my computer several times.
Reinstalled the software and drivers.
I have also factory reset the CPU both using the software app and holding the BT button for the 5-6 seconds.
I have done all of these steps without any modules installed and while in STOP mode.
The CPU is recognized as a Click Plus on the COM port in device manager when plugged in. I then try to connect to the PLC. I am greeted with a message that the firmware on the PLC is a higher version then what the programming software supports (this doesn't make sense as I am on the newest software v3.92). I am given the option to either download the newest software from the website, or to "downgrade" the firmware to 3.92. When I attempt to "downgrade" to 3.92 that is when I am met with the PTC-005 error.
I have tried to use an older version of the software(v3.71) and am met with the same error.
I would also add that the ERR light does come on when I power the unit on. When I power the unit with only the usb cable the ERR light comes on solid after 6-8 seconds. If I power the unit via 24V the light comes on immediately. If I factory reset the module while it's powered on via 24V, the ERR light will go off but comeback solid 6-8 seconds after the CPU restarts.
Is there anything I am missing?
You should try the software based reset tool first. If this does not work you will need to replace the PLC through an RMA. The solid red Err indicator is a self-diagnostic error, so the failed updates may have rendered it inoperable.
When doing a firmware update always make sure to have the PLC connected to a power source providing 24 volts (23 is too low). This will ensure a smooth update in the future.
Thanks, I was able to get a hold of v3.31 and downgrade to that version which has seemed to work.
Where can I find version 3.31? I'm having the exact same issue.
