December 2024 - Lika Electronic Medium Duty Encoders and Encoder Linear Measuring Wheel Systems

Introducing four new series of Lika Electronic encoders with unique features or applications. Linear measuring wheel encoders are also available.

Lika EncodersA41 series models are compact (41mm diameter body) medium duty encoders with hollow or solid shafts. Resolutions from 100 to 3600 PPR are available.

A50 series units are medium duty encoders designed to withstand high temperature environments up to 100 C (212F) with ¼ inch or 3/8 inch hollow shafts, in resolutions from 360 up to 2048PPR.

A80 series medium duty encoders are designed to fit large AC motors, with a 30mm hollow shaft and 1024 PPR resolution. A selection of reducer bushings is available to accommodate metric or SAE shafts.

AQ5x series medium duty encoders have programmable resolution from 1 to 16,384 PPR. These encoders have a 58 mm or 59 mm body diameter and either a 3/8 inch solid shaft or a 15mm hollow shaft; reducer bushings are available.

All Lika Electronic encoders operate at 5-30VDC and have universal output circuitry which provides push-pull (HTL/totem pole), NPN/PNP open collector (HTL), or line driver (TTL) output signals. A selection of M12 and M23 cables are available for connectorized encoders.

AR01 series encoder linear measuring systems are designed to ride directly on a product or a conveyer belt to measure length, distance, or provide speed control feedback. They are often used for cut-to-length and positioning applications.

A complete line of accessories (cables, bushings, couplings and replacement parts) is also available.

What are the chances of being able to get 1000 PPR versions of the A50 and A80 encoders.

a packaging machine we are installing over Christmas shutdown as coming in with encoders in those sizes but of questionable origin. I am in the process of specifying equivalent spare parts and would prefer to go with a known vendor and not being stuck buying spares through the OEM.

Please consider some additional Lika encoder models, such as a higher count programmable model like the IP58. There are times I like to use a programmable one with a 36000 count resolution to get 0.01 degree resolution on servo positioning settings. I use the really high count encoders with a servo and gearbox to achieve accuracy of about 0.0001" on machines:

Also I would really like it if you added linear encoding tape and measurement heads such as the SME21 and its corresponding tape the MTI:

I would really like to see both 0.05mm (0.0019") and 0.01mm (0.00039") resolution heads sold. Maybe others can chime in if they care about the 0.001mm resolution model or not. These magnetic linear encoders are far superior to linear measuring wheel systems and work great for machines where stations have positioning either left to right or up and down. Such as a Bartelt renovation/overhaul we did, where the seal stations, notch, code, hangar hole, etc are all on a very wide area. We attached a reading head to each station and replaced the ruler that used to be bolted down (and most of the readings worn off. lol) to that half of the machine to take readings from with a long strip of encoding tape (3.5meter long tape). Now the machine has a readout of the exact position of each station on the HMI and can make adjustments to station placement quicker and more accurately. The reading heads I used for this I just sent in to a standard P2-HSI as they send out line driver encoder signals. It worked extremely well but I would love to see these much better Lika models sold by you so we can get more parts from a single vendor.

Finally, it would be nice to carry one of their absolute encoder models as well to cover that base. I dont use these as often, but from time to time:

That one being EIP would mean it is compatible with any of the PLC lines that can pull data over an EtherNet/IP connection, so you dont need to also make some PLC modules for SSI or BISS input like most other absolute encoders use. Though I would still like to see such a module especially for the Productivity 2k and BRX lines, as the speed of a direct attached absolute encoder is much better than a network attached EIP encoder. But as I had asked for this already 2-3 times over the past 4-5 years and it still hasn't happened, Im guessing no such module is ever really gfoing to come along so selling a high resolution, multiturn absolute EIP encoder would be the next best thing.
