Click Remote PLC App over VPN
Can the Click remote PLC app operate over a VPN (from iPhone) to monitor a Click PLC? The only options I see to connect with in the app are Bluetooth or WiFi. The app does see the PLC when the iPhone is on the local network's WiFi (PLC is on the same subnet as the WiFi network).
Thanks!
Apparently no support beyond WiFi being connected to the same subnet. Please add functionality to connect over a VPN connection on a mobile device. Otherwise, the app is a nice idea but kind of half baked.
Thank you for the feedback. We will discuss this with the development team. Keep the suggestions coming!
It's been a year. Any progress on allowing the CLICK app to access a PLC over a VPN connection on the phone?
Since you're looking for more suggestions, please please please fix the login functionality. If you change to a different app at all, the CLICK app logs you out. Perhaps a inactivity timeout? Logging the user out of the app when it isn't focused is extremely frustrating. Checking documentation or an email or doing anything else on the device while trying to monitor values in the app kicks the user out.
I'm interested in this as well. "Wi-Fi" on the app is confusing. My PLC is only hardwired. My Android uses WiFi to get to that subnet and it works. But I also have a VPN connection to the subnet when off-site. Seems like the remote app is maybe scanning for devices rather than seeking a specific IP address? I'd like to be able to connect from phone over VPN.
Very interested in this functionality as well. I have the app set up to give me the exact info I need, but not being able to reach it remotely is very frustrating
May 2026 and this issue has not been addressed. I think the ability to enter the IP address of the PLC inside the software instead of it sending failed UDP packets over a remote connection would work wonders.
My guess is that they're not interested in adding that functionality, as they think people will use the remote PLC monitoring in lieu of an HMI, and they're worried it will cut into HMI sales.
Sometimes, remote monitoring is all that's needed and the user won't buy an HMI...
The app is basically useless then. Customers would be better off buying an Arduino then a PLC with useless apps.
PACData for the Productivity line of PLCs allows remote monitoring of variable. Works acceptably.
But I have a Click Plus
