CM5 in safe mode ver 8.21

My experience:

I updated software to ver 8.21 to I have had to update 14 touchscreens in the past two weeks.

almost every touchscreen firmware update said it failed.

So I did the update a second (sometimes more) tries.

the update still says it failed but once I reconnected I was able to download the program.

On ONE 15" touchscreen with 2 ethernet ports the HMI failed to safe mode and I could not get the firmware to complete beyond 20% via ethernet or USB

(NOTE: I was connecting to ethernet port 2 instead of port 1 if that makes a difference)

Ethernet Port 2 should make no difference. Are you updating locally or through a router? since you said you tried USB I assume locally.

v8.21 is a very large update. The software reports that the update is complete several minutes before the panel is actually complete, especially with the CM5-T4W. the panel continues updating and rebooting several times.

Make sure you let the panel get completely done before touching or power cycling.

You can also try transferring a project to an External Memory Device (USB drive or SD Card) and perform a Restore from the System Screen. Select "Firmware" when you are restoring.

    1) Ethernet update was through a router.

    2) USB was local.

    3) I had a 2nd panel that I was able to update from scratch through USB.

    4) Replaced first screen, restored it to default, and updated through USB.

(Note: the touchscreen touches do not match the display so I had to push randomly on the screen to actually touch in the right spot to match the selection I wanted)

    5) the screen goes through a file update process does three retries. then it errors with ERR-222-6: Load FileSystem Failed.

Final answer.... I have made multiple attempts in every method to update the firmware and this unit will not accept the update.

FWIW:. This was a new-In-Box touchscreen I purchased a couple months ago.

I recommend calling Technical Support so they can get more information. I recommend having a video of what you are seeing.

Yes sir, already done. Just posting for the benefit of the community.

Had a bricked CM5 T7W after update (said failed in software, "updating exec... 2" on screen).

AD RMA was quite easy, but all the changes we made to the HMI in 8.21 have to be replicated in 8.10 again :(

I noticed the same using an out-of-box CM5-T7W

After the first "firmware update failure" I noticed that the device showed up with a green check and v8.21.

I did another update 'just in case'
