C-More/Do-More Scan Devices on Another VLAN
Do the applications "C-More" and "Do-More" have the capability to scan devices on a separate VLAN apart from the local network on the PC which the software is installed?
We're planning to move devices to their own VLAN and need to know if the software has the capability to scan "other" networks or if we're going to have to add a second NIC to the PCs which will be configuring said devices.
Has anyone tried this before? What did you do for this type of scenario if you have. Thanks in advance!
From a pure networking standpoint, you can't go across VLANs unless you have a router or Layer 3 managed switch that allows routing across VLANs. If you have that setup, you treat the connections just like a remote connection so Scanning won't be possible. You will need to manually create a link in both software packages for the IP address of the PLC and HMI.
If you want/need to be able to Scan the PLC and HMI, then adding a second NIC that is on the same VLAN as those devices would be the way to go. Both software packages will allow you to choose the NIC to scan.
