ProSense pressure transmitter
I have a PTD25-20-0100WCH transmitter on a 6000 gallon, horizontal, water tank, to measure water level in the tank. It worked fine for a couple years and then started to hang up during rising water level, near the half full point. I put a new one on and it has done the same thing. Since the tank is horizontal, the level at the half way point is rising very slowly and not sure if that is an issue. When it hangs up the full signal is never sent to the plc to shut off the pump and the tank overflows. Anyone have any ideas on what may be the problem? Thank you.
The only thing I can think of is a calcium scale buildup on your sensor, and I would install a mechanical horizontal level switch as a top level limit on your tank above your sensor to make sure your pump shuts off before tank overflows, I have same setup on my tanks and its saved me from floods many times over the years, I also have a floor mounted water switch that acts as a emergency switch to the pump if the tank overflows it will shut down water system and activate alarm light for me

I don't think it is calcium since it happened with the new pressure transmitter the day after it was installed. The back up switch is a good idea but the tank is remote and the pressure data is transmitted via a radio link. I will have to think about that. Thanks.
One thing I thought of is if you can install a tee or replace the sensor spot with a manual dial pressure gauge to see what pressure you have on the tank to see if the sensor you ordered was the wrong range of pressure than what your tank is seeing
I already have that arrangement.
A while back I had the same problem. I ended up installing the next higher rated transducer. The old one was well within the rating of the transducer but didn't last. The higher rated one has worked flawless for quite a few years. You would loose some resolution,in my case it was ok.
