The Company's Monkey-With-a-Wrench (Customer) asked a question.
Quick info before y'all read, I am a straight up newbie at all of this. Anything and everything I know is from second hand knowledge that I happened to pick up on, google searches, and trial and error. I need all the help I can get.
Here's the problem. We ended up having to send off our EA7 series HMI Display to get refurbished by Automation Direct, now I am trying to download our original project on it. The original project was made using an earlier version of C-MORE by a family friend (he's been helping me out as well, but he wont be available to help me out with this for a bit and I'm under pressure to get this thing going). I'm not sure which version honestly, but whenever I open it up using C-MORE Ver2.78+SP2 it has me make a copy of the .eap before I can get going with opening it up let alone transferring it.
I was finally able to get it to open, save, and transfer over to the EA7 display. When I was doing this, C-MORE said something about updating the firmware and I agreed to it thinking no harm no foul, surely an update wouldn't mess with it. Project is now on the EA7 HMI Display, but the error, P-001: PLC Communication Timeout, keeps popping up. on the front screen the PLC Program Version says it's "0.0" which I know can't be right, and the LED light next to TxD is lighting up.
We are using an EZ-SLC-232-CBL 35/05 wire leading from the touchscreen to a Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1500 PLC. What's stumping me is that the fault light on the PLC itself isn't lighting up, but the lights next to RUN and POWER are a solid green, so they seem good.
Like I said, I'm self taught and really good on picking up on stuff, but this has me absolutely stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated at this point. Any questions, i will try to answer to the best of my abilities.
I would go to setup -> panel manager -> in the tree find you AB plc under Com Port and verify the serial settings match that of the CPU port serial settings. Most likely something does not match causing your timeout.
