GS read/write instructions

What is the best practice for enabling the stop/run mode data transfers on the GSW and GSR instructions? Would a N/C run bit be sufficient for the stop mode data transfer? For the run mode data transfer, is this something that should be done using a flasher coil, a handshake bit, or???? I'm going to be randomly adjusting frequency as this machine cycles through it's process. I guess my other question is why does this need to be done, can't it read and write automatically with the polling?

Some functions have to manually be written to the drive either while the drive is in run vs. stop mode. Reference help file topic P137. The run mode options are also listed in the GS drives manual. If you do not plan to change the run or stop mode settings then you can put a normally off contact on those two rungs. You can see what those settings are under manual write and the run and stop mode tabs.

If writing (GSW) the frequency reference(run command) to the drive this is done automatically depending on the poll rate you assigned in the instruction.
