Frogman (Customer) asked a question.
I am a newbie
I have never programmed a darn thing except maybe back in college which was 400 years ago and I really want to learn this stuff I’m 59 years old and I own a food processing company and we are refurbishing some equipment and if I hire people that come and go, and this doesn’t seem that difficult. Our stuff is pretty straightforward limited to single machines performing reciprocative actions.. we are using the click stuff and I know they offer some online courses. I just want a couple pointers as how I should begin. Sorry if this is so vague.
I'm in a similar situation, I know controls, but not assembly or programming. Any luck so far, or advice?
The first place I start is assigning the X-input addresses (pushbuttons, limit switches, photoeyes, etc.) and the Y-output addresses (valves, motor starters, lights, etc.).
Next, what does your machine do? what starts or enables the process?
There's also very brief program examples HERE
This series of beginner videos is built around the Allen-Bradley SLC/Micrologix software and functionality, but the same principles will apply to the Click. Watch them in order for best results..
