Using WPS (WEG Programming Suite) software, I continually get "Wcomm is already running or a lock has been left!" errors. Even on a fresh install, and even after a fresh reboot. Any tricks to getting communications working with WPS?

    It turns out that the solution to this issue was to completely uninstall WPS, then re-run the WPS installer with Administrator privileges. It's a huge bummer that this requirement isn't mentioned anywhere on the AutomationDirect WPS product page, on WEG's download page, or even by the installer itself when run without the necessary elevated privileges.

     

    I wasted more than half a day chasing this, so I hope this info helps someone avoid the hassle of debugging the WEG toolchain.
