erik.carlsen (Customer) asked a question.

GS20 Drive configuration parameter P00.25 User Defined Characteristics doesn't seem to function.
Any assistance is appreciated.

Data as defined in P00.04 "User Display" does not configure with parameter P00.25 "User Defined Characteristics".

Using the manual given example hexadecimal to decimal code 419 does not change anything on the user display.

This feature could be very useful to configure data displayed with desired decimal places and possibly display a data qualifier like "psi" or some other useful measurement. I have a pressure switch input of 4-20ma on analog input 2.

Reads great with user display set to "Al2" (or D1043 plc where I can manipulate the data via built in plc) on the drive but no decimal control and would be excellent if it could say "psi". Not sure if it can do this but the manual sure makes it seem possible. Tried 01c1h hexadecimal to decimal of "449" . Also no change to vfd screen user value.

What am I doing wrong???

Thanks.

What value do you have in P00.26? Per the manual page 4-67:

When P00.26 is NOT set to 0, the user-defined value is enabled. Set P00.25 before using P00.26. After you finish setting, when P00.26 is not 0, the displayed unit on the keypad shows correctly according to P00.25 settings.

I didn't pay attention to P00.26 because I thought I was already defining where the decimal place would go in P00.25. Whoops you're right of course it clearly says P00.26 must be more than zero for P00.25 to enable.

Just went ahead and tried that but no success. Any type of user defined value (P00.04) doesn't format per P00.25, P00.26. I've tried lots of combinations, the example given, even random numbers, and changed the type of user value.

I set P00.26 to "60" because that's my max frequency, but tried other values. Not sure how frequency would be related to what I'm doing but that's the example.

I'm using D1043 data from the PLC to stabilize an clean up AI2 4-20ma data and hoping to display psi with one decimal place.

Overall the drives and built in PLC are great. I have the manual printed and binded, read thru it once, good knowledge to have. Tons of applications for these VFDs.

Thanks for any additional help you can offer.

I had suspected that the display may not be able to present a label like that given it's a nine segment LED.

Have a GS4 series drive too and the display is super nice. In the low HP range those GS4 drives are huge, something like 6x the size of a GS20 so doesn't work in my enclosure. I know you can buy just the keypad separately, sadly hasn't been in stock for a long while.

Any way you can think of to get a decimal point in PLC D1043 data??? That would help my user display a good bit despite no label. Doesn't seem to accept Floating Point data so I imagine it's impossible.

Thanks again for your fast and helpful assistance.

We are showing 107 GS4-KPD in stock as of this morning. I will continue to look into your decimal point inquiry.

Did some more research. Displaying a decimal point is not possible. The only way to adjust the decimal in P00.04 is if you use P00.04=30….user defined display.

Understood. Appreciate you looking into this.

Always buying PLC, HMIs, etc from Automation Direct. The great tech support is a big bonus.

    Thanks for your time.
