ProgrammerMN (Customer) asked a question.

Hot-swap capabilities with remote I/O modules.

I am using P3-550E CPU with multiple P3-RX remote I/O modules, currently have 4 connected, software version 3.12.1 (21).

In the hardware configuration window I have each remote base set to (hot-swap) which should allow the CPU to continue to run when remote module is disconnected. This is not working for me. If power is disconnected, turned off, from remote base the CPU errors out with critical error. Not the end of the world but was curious if it only allows individual cards to be removed. Might have something to do with the communication aspect, the CPU is looking for the remote base but it's not communicating when power is disconnected.

    It's working now.

Not sure what was going on...I went through and disabled hot swap, then enabled it again, and transferred the program again. Now it's working.

I decided turn them all off again anyways. I am using boolean SBR001012 to trigger a banner on my HMI to indicate that there is an error or that one of the remote modules has lost power.

    Thanks for your time!

Does your hardware configuration indicate that hot swap is enabled for that base?

1.) What critical error are you getting when remote base is powered down?

2.) What firmware revision are you running in the CPU and each P3-RX?

3.) Can you go online with the CPU and create a system report and attach to this thread or send it to me in a private message?

I will work on getting this info for you. Might not be until tomorrow though
