GUI-022 error when trying to update firmware in Click PLC

I have a CLICK C2-03 PLC. It had firmware version 2 something.

I attempted to update the firmware to v3.31.

It got to 100% complete on 2/4 (updating firmware) then froze.

Now it says there is no firmware installed and I need to install it. When I try and install it, I continuously get a PTC-005 error. I spam the button and eventually can get it to try and install again but it always stops at the same point (2/4) and gives me a GUI-022 error.

I have restarted everything.

I am using the same laptop that I have connected to this PLC before and all my other CLICK PLCs. I am connected through USB and have tried multiple cords that work on other CLICK PLCs I have.

My laptop has 25 gb of memory free.

I had a ton of PTC-005 errors and had it fail the firmware update a couple more times (GUI-022) but eventually it updated it with V3.41. Its working now.

Recommend you try using the latest software release 3.41. There was a fix in this release pertaining to firmware update failures.

    6) Certain USB to Ethernet Adapters may cause firmware update to fail at 70% complete

Another option is to reset the plc to factory defaults to see if that allows you to update firmware.

@JJ123456 What model PLC are you using?

Thanks, What was the original version in the PLC?

Don't recall exactly but they would have been V2

I've had 2 click Plus PLCs in the last couple weeks that have exhibited the same type of GUI-022 problem. One eventually was able to update the firmware, the other still hasn't updated. It gets stuck on the Phase(Sub CPU) step and freezes then fails at 80%. I'm using 3.41. I tried unchecking the box to Skip Updating modules with the same version, and it made it to the same point and failed. I've tried over Ethernet and USB. I've tried resetting to factory defaults. I don't have a serial cable or any of the wireless antennas, so those provisioning options are out. so if anyone has had anything else that seems to work, I'm all ears.

It has been doing the same thing on every PLC I have. I just use 3.41 and continue spamming it and eventually it will finally update

Good to know it's not just me. I will try that strategy, but if I can't get it to work, I eventually might have to RMA it...
