StrideLinx WiFi Setup with Static IP Address

If I go to the StrideLinx Fleet Manager, Add New Device, Wireless network, Next, enter the Wi-Fi SSID and password, Next, I get to circle 3, Internet. Here, I am expecting to enter the static IP address, etc, but it will not let me.

Am I missing something? If I do the same for a Wired network, it immediately gives me the option to configure the IP address, etc.

Well there ya go ...update your firmware to 3.22 and you will be able to do it.

If you are setting up on a wifi network it will have a dhcp server and automatically assign a WAN IP address to your router. You will set teh LAN side IP address in the next step.

That's all fine and dandy, and I can get the device online, but I can't assign a static IP anywhere, either from the portal or a LAN side log in.

The help file makes no mention of how to set a static IP on a Wi-Fi connection. Only for Ethernet. In the help file it states:

    1. It is recommended to set a static WAN IP address for your StrideLinx router to maintain long-term accessibility. Consult the local IT administrator for the correct network settings.

Which is exactly what I'm trying to do, as I'm trying to do some port forwards through the router and want a static. The location's IT admin suggests I assign static IP vs having them assign via MAC address reservation.

Logging into the router from the LAN side and setting a static WAN IP address only assigns it to the Ethernet/WAN port. It continues to receive Wi-Fi's IP address via DHCP. With Ethernet connected to WAN, it has 2 IP addresses, as it has 2 MAC addresses. The WAN is static, the Wi-Fi is DHCP. Unplugging the Ethernet causes the static IP to disapear from the network, while the Wi-Fi's DHCP IP persists. Changing Failover Priority also has no effect on the assignment.

I cannot find a Wi-Fi IP option anywhere besides DHCP.

In the web interface configuration go to the following section:network WAn

Go to the WiFi Client section and change it to "Static" here:

wifiIf this is not what you are trying to do you would need to provide more information.

Ha, well there it is. Sorry about that, I didn't think something that basic would only be in the very latest firmware years into the product's life. Assumptions, assumptions... Thank you!

I do have a couple questions for you. How are you using this?

Is your IT admin giving you an IP Address that is assigned in a routing table in the WiFi server?

If so did you give them the mac address from the vpn router to use?

Does the the WiFi server have the ability to serve the IP address needed by MAC address? ( Then you could leave the router set to DHCP, but get the same ip address each time.)
