    CPM-SDSK-N0561P-ELS  ClearPath® - Integrated Servo System   1 HP 230V 3Phase 56C Positioning

     

    I have used a few of them from nema 34 to 56 with the BRX HS output pins.

    The nema 34 was a DC model and I had some trouble with stalling at higher accel. Did not use Teknic's power supply, possible voltage drop at high accel.

     

    A problem that may occur is the pulse train not being a very square wave.

     

    The 230v model worked well as a positioner for a nip drawing a specified footage of plastic film. No problems with dropping out.

     

    I originally used a separate encoder to get the length, but could never really get the two to be synced. This would cause an error in the drive. Once I used the onboard pulse encoder, it worked pretty well.

    The onboard encoder is not available for output and is not a standard PPR.

     

    Communicate/feedback with the motor is pretty limited. Best if used in something that does not need any parameters changed during run.

    Found it best to run the motor slower and use more torque.

     

    They do have some nice features that can make a motor automate a series of motions with very few controls.

    Have you worked with the ClearCore Module , do you have much C++ Experience. i am asking because i am going to be Setting this up for a Conveyor that has several speeds, and was wondering if i am going to need a PWM from a PLC to do this. thank you for your advice and help

    I have not used the ClearCore Module.

    Looking quickly it looks like all of the instructions and feedback using a PC or controller are through ethernet.

    It has a good deal of I/O.

    Most of the applications that I have used use only one or two servos and are in control of only one PLC. This makes it pretty easy to manage using the BRX.

    With SDSK, it's essentially a stepper motor. You need a "pulse train" to make it go at all. Vary the frequency of pulses, and the speed changes. The `W' in PWM is of little interest to the motor. High speed PLC output works fine. How did you intend to drive it / control it? There are a lot of different ways to make it go.

    Teknic's MCVC and MCPV​ can both be programmed to four different preset speeds that can be triggered by switches (PLC, whatever). It might be a better choice. Lots of other motion and speed options with this series.

    How much position control do you need? ​How much speed control? They're nice motors, within their limitations. (Use their IPC-5 power supply for that motor, by the way.)

    I'm pretty sure ClearCore is just an Arduino system that they packaged . Again, needs and use would help in whether you would benefit from that or not. You can program it with the Arduino software, and there are a lot of Arduino users out there who can offer help.
