Uploading firmware to the 250 CPU on the DL 205

Using automation Direct firmware uploading software I was able to upload new versions to two DL 05. Had tried countless attempts trying to upgrade to a 250 CPU using numerous configurations to no avail. Does anybody have any thoughts on this matter? I keep on getting a Communications error. Thanks in advance for any help.

Is there another device using the serial ComPort so utility can't access it? What is the specific error you are receiving?

  • Ken661 (Customer)

No devices are using that port. I use the same port to program DL05s I also updated the firmware in two DL05s. I can read the old firmware version in the 250 CPU and it started to update the firmware in the 250-1 CPU it went to 100% and told me to reboot only to find out it didn't upgrade and when I want to view the version that was on there, it couldn't read it. I disabled antivirus software and the firewall to no avail.

For clarification is your CPU a 250 or 250-1?

Can you go online with the CPU using programming software?

In addition what is the status of the run light on front of the CPU?

What position is the run, term, stop switch?

    • Ken661 (Customer)

The status light on both the 250 and 250-1 CPUs is steady and isn't blinking . The switch is in the terminal position .
