GS4-2030 Drive with Load Motor Configuration

I am trying to get a GS4 drive to work with an inverter duty AC motor as a load in a test stand. I oversized the drive and the motor so that I had some extra capacity. I have the drive configured for constant torque mode. I want the load motor to apply a continuous torque to the shaft of the system, even when backdriven.

The drive motor and the load motor are coupled together. In order to simulate the load properly, the load will be opposing in one direction and aiding in the other direction. This is a simulation of a vertical actuator system that drives a heavy load. When you are extending the actuator, the load opposes the motion. When you lower the actuator, the load aids the motion.

My issue is overload failures of the drive. I can't seem to find the proper parameter settings to allow the drive to limit the current output and not fault the drive. I have tried a variety of combinations with no success.

So my question is if it is possible to setup this drive in a constant torque mode with a hard torque limit that will not allow the drive to try to overcome it and fault. Any thoughts are appreciated. I hope I am just overlooking something and this will be an easy fix.

P6.38 sets the torque limit / maximum output current. It is a percentage of the drives rated current.

If the over-torque detection stuff is not disabled then this will throw OL1/OL2 errors when you exceed them

Thank you for the information. I am going to be working on the configuration again next week.
