StrideLinx: Productivity Suite Integration

Productivity Suite GUI 3.8 and newer support easy navigation to your Productivity PLC from the 'CPU Connections' window.

Select 'Choose CPU', 'Add Connection', Connection Type - StrideLinx Secure VPN. Click Browse to enter your StrideLinx credentials and select the StrideLinx Company Name and Router. Enter the PLC IP address to confirm it's online. Click Ok, then Connect. Once your PLC CPU is connected through StrideLinx you can go online or offline from the toolbar. This eliminates the need to connect to your StrideLinx router first in a web browser, then switch back to Productivity Suite.

Anyone already using this? How does it work for you?

Never knew it existed. Just tried it out on a few separate sites. It's neat but kind of slow. Setting up the connection it connects to the PLC, but then disconnects. Have to wait for "browsing" to finish, then can reconnect which is again much slower than a normal connect when already on the VPN. Now slow is relative, it still took less than 60 seconds to connect and it appears that first connect/disconnect/connect exchange is just during the adding phase. Once there it stumbles less.

Going offline appears to be a struggle, have to smash that button a few times to get it to disconnect. Maybe there was a lag and I was impatient, but I waited roughly 1 banana between clicks.

I probably wont use it much as starting the VPN is fast and I generally need HMI access at the same time. But it would be nice for times where HMI access isn't needed.

It appears once the connection is established through Psuite it can be treated as if connecting through StrideLinx itself and HMI's and any other devices behind the VPN can be accessed. A little handier than initially thought to be on my part.
