Wondering if the SV2A-2300 drive would support being supplied with single phase 240VAC (ie. Australian residential mains power)? Does it support 415VAC Australian 3 Phase?
ie. If this drive just throws that 3PH into a bridge rectifier, then we could just connect a single phase 240VAC 20A circuit into one of the phase inputs. The single phase valleys of full wave rectification would be mitigated (somewhat) by the internal smoothing capacitors - though pulling full power might an issue. This could also be mitigated somewhat in software depending on how much control it has over the input power stage by a more aggressive duty cycle that follows the input wave.
1PH>3PH converters/or 3PH step down xformers make the whole thing cost prohibitive. This is for a 3kw mill spindle, if this isn't feasible it'll just be easier to go with a Australian rated VFD + async AC motor (which is about 25% heavier on the milling head and lacks the torque capabilities, but far cheaper).
The specifications indicate that it does NOT support that. Since the 2kW and less drives specifically do support single phase I'd be inclined to think they mean it when they show the 3kW and larger not supporting it. The (simplified) drawing in the manual shows "voltage detection" for all three phases so it might refuse to run on single phase, even if it does run on single phase the higher ripple current would put more stress on the capacitors and probably shorted their life, so one would assume that that would void the warranty.
I notice that peak torque is significantly higher than rated torque, I imagine if one were conservative with programing and didn't exceed rated torque that reserve might help mitigate the missing phase? maybe. I suppose if one wanted to take the responsibility for potential damage themselves, one could try it, but again it is possible the control circuit will just refuse to run if it doesn't see all three phases present, However, alarm AL022 "RST leak phase" is "error type" "WARN" and not "ALM", so maybe it will run?
