Cap (Customer) asked a question.

What programs are available to Control Panel Layouts>

Like the title says.. What programs are available. I'm needing to lay out a few Controls cabinets. In the Past I just Purchase all the Goodies I think I need.. then play Paper Dolls with the Parts, and figure out the layout.. then Measure and Order the Box (s)

This time I have a few to do and when I get the Go-ahead, time will be limited.. So I'm wanting to get smarter on the Procedures..

Thanks in advance..

Skycad, AutoCAD electrical. I've cobbled some together in F360 and SolidWorks as well. If you just want a 3D layout anything can do it fairly easy if you have the OEM STEP files. I would suggest NOT trying to download the entire AD library...

Skycad looks great.. I'll give that a Trial Run..

Last Autocad I ran was V2.62 running on a 386 With math Co-Processor.. I might have to brush up on my Program skills before I run that again..

    Thanks..

If you are AutoCad trained or knowledgeable, I recommend NanoCad Plus ($180/year). It is an excellent clone for a fraction of the Autode$k cost.

SkyCAD is an excellent choice for doing schematics for the price. Their label layout side was a bit of a let down though, mainly just boxes with pictures pasted in top that really made the performance suffer. It also fails to properly export to DXF or DWG, but if you just need to do schematics and save as PDF then it is great.

AutoCAD Electrical is what we use, but it's pricey. If you are just looking to do the panel layouts and not schematics or wiring diagrams then a 2D AutoCAD clone would work just fine.
