Does anyone know if these flow meters work good with just plain water?
I am looking into using them for measuring the amount of water in gallons that flows into a mixing unit. The preference would be to be able to enter, for example, 36 gals and hit start, the PLC would reset the meter, open the solenoid valve. The meter would count up to that amount and signal the PLC to shut the valve. Do I have the correct valve selected for this application?
The meter volumetric pulse totalizer is settable from 0.010 to 100,000,000 GAL. This is a setting of gallons/pulse meaning that if you have the setting set to 0.5GAL, the output will turn on (for a settable amount of time) whenever 0.5gallons have moved through the meter.
In you case (depending on accuracy, flowrates, and PLC input speed) you could set the meter to say 0.1 GAL/Pulse for totalizer. In the PLC yo would add 0.1 to the total value on every rising edge of the input. When the total=> setpoint you would turn off the output.
