[CLOSED] Sureservo documentation Optocoupler LED

In the image, are we to assume that the indicated DIODE is actually an LED that is INSIDE the optocoupler?

This optocoupler layout is repeated in many other diagrams.

If so, please correct in future revisions.

I think that's external and looks like it's used for input protection on the optocoupler.

It could be. But then, how could I apply a negative polarity on /SIGN and a positive polarity on SIGN? Same for the PULSE pair.

      I completely missed that - good point. I think you're right 😋

As Delta has discontinued the ASDA-A, maybe it will follow that AD discontinues the original SureServo.

So this thread is moot. I renamed the title as [CLOSED]

This notice is on the storefront.. https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/shopping/catalog/motion_control/servo_systems/sureservo1_(sva_series)#

"Not intended for new system development, SureServo1 components have a large installed base that will continue to be served while components are still available. If you are designing a new machine, SureServo2 systems have all the features of SureServo1, at a lower price. For ease of upgrade, SureServo2 motor dimensions are very similar to the comparable SureServo1 motor."

Good to know - that drive was well past it's prime. The new one looks a lot more like a modern drive although I'm surprised they didn't include EtherCAT as an option card. Maybe at a later date.

        I do not disagree.

The most frustrating experience that I had with them was overtravel limit switch used as home.

Sometimes the servo would hang and not leave the limit switch -- if it homed in the wrong direction.

Why it would home (occasionally) in the wrong direction is beyond me.

Found this in the original ASDA-A document. If this note is in the SureServo docs, I missed it.
