I would like to use the P1AM to control individually adressable LED strips and communicate with a PLC. I want to control these strips via SPI, do i need the GPIO for this or can it also be done with the 3.3-24v outputs of the "p1-15cdd1" discrete module?

This would safe the use of one shield since then both the PLC IO communication and the LED strip control can be done via the discrete module.

    There is no way the P1-15cdd1 will be fast enough to bit bang SPI coms.

     

    If you are not using a P1 power supply you don't necessary need a P1AM-GPIO as you can connect a jumper wire directly to the GPIO pins

    Can you share what LED strips you are using and if possible a datasheet?
