Ryan1980 (Customer) asked a question.
Click Software 3.0 hanging up immediately after opening.
I downloaded the Click software and was able to use it for about 2 days (same with the C-more HMI software). Now when I open it, it just hangs and I have to stop it. I uninstalled and reinstalled both and was able to get them to come back and work for another day, then same issue. The C-more software opens and lets me choose what to open, then closes itself after I make the selection and hit OK. Any ideas???
Hi Ryan, does it say anything in the Windows event log?
The only thing I see looking there (in the Admin events) is that it says 'Application Hang' Event ID 1002 Task category 101. Any other place to look?
What is your operating system?
What version C-more Software?
Were you running the C-more software before with no issue and the problem with it started when you installed CLICK 3.0?
Do you open the CLICK software with a particular project or does it hangup at the Startup screen? If you are opening by double clicking on a project, can you try opening from the Windows Start menu instead?
When it hung up the first time were you connected to a PLC?
Since you say it hangs up I assume there are no error messages displayed?
If you getting it running again, go to Theme on the right side of the menu and switch to Classic UI. See if it runs without hanging up.
Sorry I am shot gunning this in the dark. We have not seen this issue, so it is likely some combination of items.
Okay here goes,
\
Operating system is Windows 10
C-more is version 6.7
I'm not really sure, I had them both open at the same time running fine and the Click software hung up when I was sending the program to the PLC. I had to close it and then restart my computer to clear the USB COM port and when I opened them back up, neither would work.
I only have the one project going right now, this is my first time using the Click PLC's and software. It hangs up when I open it normally, haven't tried opening with a project yet...
No error messages, just the spinning circle of death until I click, then get the (Not Responding) and finally the "this program is not responding"...
I know what you mean, I've tried all kinds of different things and I have no idea why it worked again for almost a day then stopped again...
Thanks for the help and I'll try opening it with a program here shortly...
I even tried downloading the older version of the Click software and it does the same thing, hangs up on the splash screen (load screen, not sure what the terminology is for it).
Just a shot in the dark, try running it w/o any USB devices plugged in and also with your laptop on battery only as well.
Still nothing. And I didn't get any further trying to open Click with a program either, still hangs up.
Let me clarify one of the questions. Were you running C-more before on this PC, in times past before installing CLICK, with no issues?
CLICK 3.0 uses a new USB driver. How are you connecting to the CLICK? Straight USB cable to the Micro USB port? Or are you using the EA-MG-PGM-CBL? If we know this we can tell you what drivers should show up in the Device Manager.
BTW, which model CLICK PLC?
If you get the circle of death, how long have you waited before clicking anything else. Maybe wait and see.
When the CLICK Software is closed, look in the Task Manager>Details Tab. If KECommServer.exe is in the list, select it and End Task.
No, I installed both of them for the first time on the same day and started them both up with probably an hour of each other.
\
I am connecting using the EA-MG-PGM-CBL
\
It is the CO-12DD2E-D
\
I've let it sit for at least 10 mins (gone out for a smoke and come back).
\
I don't see that running in the task manager.
Okay then, let's check something. Open the Device Manager on your PC.
Run> devmgmt.msc
With the EA-MG-PGM-CBL connected, expand look at Ports (COM & LPT).
Is there a yellow triangle next to anything?
Do you have a "Prolific PL2303GC USB Serial COM Port (COMx)" listed?
What is the Date Code on the EA-MG-PGM-CBL? Something like 210B.
