BRX support for GS20
I was wondering if the BRX PLCs will be supporting the new GS20 drives like they do the GS2 drives. I currently have a BRX>GSEDRV100>GS2 system running that works really well using the built in device driver, and I was hoping that I could do something similar with a BRX connected to a GS20 drive with the ethernet card installed for an upcoming system I'm working on. Will there be support for this in the future?
It was not possible for us to develop a card for that drive, and the Do-more support is closely tied to the interface card itself.

We are actively developing a Modbus scanner function for BRX that will provide a similar level of integration for anything that has a Modbus/TCP or Modbus/RTU interface, so that may meet the need.
It will be interesting to see what you guys come up with! I have a couple other modbus devices that may become standard items to connect to a BRX. It will be handy to develop a device definition for your scanner that I can reuse in other projects. I suppose definitions like that might even be able to be downloaded from AD's website, at least for AD products, to make connecting them to BRX easier.
Thanks for the reply!
Yes, profile based, with tight UDT integration as well. We are definitely planning for profiles to be user authorable, and plan to have profiles for as many ADC products as makes sense. With a full device profile (there will be levels of profiles), the user experience will be nearly identical to the existing GSEDRV100, complete with PLC instructions for program register access to supplement the I/O scanner.
Sounds great! Here's hoping my projects drag along slow enough that I can use it when it's released 😅
Bumping this topic to see if there's been any progress on the modbus scanner function..
It's done. Final beta happening this week. Release shortly after.
Sweet! Congrats on (what I'm assuming will be) yet another useful feature added to these PLCs! They just keep getting better 😀
The Modbus Scanner has got some great utility, and is designed to offer multiple levels of benefit. I'll be curious to see how people use it in practice. I have my opinions, but I'm frequently surprised.
For the moderators of this forum and BobO:
Once profiles are developed, will they be able to be hosted on the AD website or on the HOST website?
I can't speak for ADC, but Host is certainly willing to maintain a repository of user submitted profiles.
