Dr. Glenn (Customer) asked a question.
Using GX bits in a D2-260 program
I am embarrassed to admit it but I've never used the GX/GY bits in Directlogic. I've searched the forum and the manuals yet I still do not understand how to use them.
I am converting a DirectLogic program to DoMore and I need to account for some GX bits. I've emailed the guy that wrote the program and await his reason/purpose for using GX bits.
Not sure if the original project had remote I/O or not.
GX/GY are generally remote I/O points are represented by global relays. They are generally used only to control remote I/O, but they can be used as normal control relays when remote I/O is not used in the system.
You could choose to map the remote points into GX data types or GY data types or even into
control relays. This can be very helpful in those situations where the local and expansion I/O have consumed all of the X inputs or Y outputs.
You may also want to note that the GX/GY use different V memory locations (see 205 user manual) if modbus is needed.
Thank you for responding so soon! If I wanted to implement these GX bits physically, what would I need to use to communicate to the remote rack? I know that if I use EM/CM modules to interconnect racks, I still use the standard X and Y bits. Would I use an RSSS module in the master base and some other module in the CPU slot on the remote base?
I don't plan to implement GX bits in the conversion. I merely want to make sure I am not overlooking something.
The RSSS would be used in the CPU slot of the remote base and be wired to the cpu in the main base.

I’ve never had to implement GX/GY so now I know what to look for!

Hi Dr. Glenn,
If you are using Modbus communication then this would be the Mobus inputs/outputs:

I hope he answers soon as the suspense is terrific!

Do-more does NOT support RSSS. It does support H2-EBC100 natively. Actually, all Ethernet Do-more PLC's can support any combination of 205, Terminator, or BRX EBC/DMIO Ethernet I/O.
The entire project uses around 20 D2-260’s and around 50 racks of modules, representing that many distinct functions. The CPUs are all networked with ECOM modules. I will upgrade them function by function over the next two or three years.

Ha! Do-more 205 does not support EM/CM either. Just Do-more Ethernet I/O.
You might want to look at PEERLINK instruction as an easy way to share data across Do-more Ethernet PLCs. "It just works". The ECOM100 can support PEERLINK also w/260's and 250's. It supports up to 16 "publishers" of 16 blocks of 16 WORDS (so you could have 1 PLC publish all 16 blocks, or have 16 different PLCs publish a different block each, or any combination). However, you can have UNLIMITED subscribers (listeners).
I LOVE the DoMore! (I call the 205 processors ‘DoLess’ now 😉)
I know that the DoMore does not support the EM and CM modules. I can also remove the ECOM modules to open up a slot!
I’m looking forward to showing this customer the advantages of DoMore.
Warmest of Regards, franji1!
