The 'simulator ' isn't really a simulator. It is the full Do-more engine minus the hardware acceleration features and it behaves identically to the PLCs
Is the PAC simulator the same engine as the physical hardware PAC? Or is it just a very close approximation?
Just curious, I am not trying to compare the two platforms. I am trying to find out if the simulator will behave identically to the PAC hardware in V3.8 and onward..
[EDIT: I finally found 308.htm ---
I could NOT find a HELP TOPIC page number like P308, searching for 308.htm fails.
If I search for 'simulator' it see results for 308.htm.
This page answers a bit of my question above - what is and is not supported (hardware and instruction set.)]
The PAC simulator is the same engine as the PLCs. Of course, the environment in which it runs is very different. That is, your PC may be assumed to be running many applications and have active communications that the PLC won’t. The logic engine is the same, but the comms are limited and the scan time isn’t comparable. As you mentioned, please refer to the help file Simulator topic for the list of what is and isn’t supported.
And unfortunately, your observation on searching for help topic P308 is correct. I've noted it and will update the file. Until the search function is corrected, the Simulator can be found in the help file table of contents here:
Main Screen Overview>Menu Bar>CPU Menu. It's directly under the Choose CPU topic.
