Can a P3k control a GS20 using the GS hardware configuration in the software?
I need to add another GS drive to run a basic variable speed on a motor. Can a GS20 be controlled directly in the software with the GS read/write?
Or should I stick with a GS3 and an edrv100 like my other drives are.
Currently GS20 is not supported in the Productivity software. Stick with the GS3.
Another option would be use a GS4 and add a GS4-CM-MODTCP option card.
By the time you add on the EDRV100 it could be a wash on the cost. Depends on the size of drive.
I am NOT the OP, but had the same question when I called you guys 2 weeks ago. I was told that...
A. There are currently no plans to release a patch that will fix this...is this true, and, if not, why?
B. That i could "roll my own", which I have since done (as I have done before with other drives. I am in the middle of install...can I not use MODBUS TCP read and write to do this over enet? I have done this many times with RTU on many different drives.
Just making sure your tech told me correctly, as I purchased the GS20 drives on his recommendation (since you are completely out of GS4 and (if I recall correctly) GS3 in one size I needed.

The GS20A-CM-ENETIP card is configurable to use Ethernet/IP and/or Modbus TCP communications. You would set paramter P09.74 to 0 or 2 for Modbus TCP.
Just making sure that is ok. As far as my first question...Do you plan on adding the GS20 to the GS Drive hardware section at some point? It would have been nice if this had been done at the time the drives were released, as it doesn't seem as if it would be that big of a code change to make it happen. It seems fairly straightforward, as many of the MODBUS addresses in the drive align with the previous GS drives...
I think this is on the raodmap for our development team, however we do not have a time frame. It has not been landed on our company roadmap yet so our tech support team gave the correct answer in saying it was "Not known if it was in planned to be added." At this phase we do not want customers to think there is a feature coming within specified time and plan a project around it and then be upset if it is not done in the time frame they think it should be done.
