Just curious about the experiences others may have had with the new PLC Firmware Update Tool. So far, I haven't had much success. Today, after downloading the latest v1.48 250 CPU firmware, the Firmware Update Tool and the Update Instructions, I tried updating a 250 CPU that had v1.39 installed and a date code of 0010. After lots of experimentation, I was not able to get the tool to install the firmware even though it would correctly recognize the comm link when the "Auto " mode was selected. After several retries, it always returns an "Error 99 " dialog box. Another issue that I have found to be highly annoying is that it appears to install it's older OCX's over newer ones that may already be present on your system. In my case, it causes VB6 to gripe about Comctrl32.ocx Needless to say, I 've gone back to using the older PLC FTOOL update program since it at least works, even if it isn't all that pretty.
