In our plant we have a machine which has several servo motors on it. They are Parker and Lenze amplifiers. We are looking at replacing all of the amplifiers and I was looking at the Sure Servo from A/D. Ours have resolver feedback and I don't see anywhere in the literature that mentions a resolver, only encoder. Does anyone know if the Sure Servo amplifiers will accept resolver feedback? The boss likes the price on these if they will work with our motors.

what is the output of your resolvers?
the servo manual (pg 1-9) shows an analog input for velocity & torque modes. Pg 2-15 shows the terminal layout for these inputs.

My wiring diagram calls the wires (Ref, ref gnd, cos, cos gnd, sin, sin gnd, ts, gnd, shield). I'm not very familiar with Servo drives so I'm not sure if this will work.

do you have a manufacturer name/part number for the amplifier & resolver?
as for the resolver, where is it positioned? It may be easily replaceable, or an outright swap from the old equipment to the new.
FWIW, the encoders on the SureServo motors are exceptionally accurate, I have a cutting machine that cuts to 1/2mm over various lengths... it's still accurate to 1/2mm after 200+ cuts

While I am not absolutely, totally, sure, I'd say I'm about 99 and 44/100 percent sure that a Sureservo drive can NOT use a resolver.

while you 're probably correct, tinker, the intent was to find a way to interface the existing resolvers with the sureservo... or at least to attempt it.

AD tech support says their amps are designed for use with their motors ONLY! Imagine that

Resolvers are still used on servos, it an analog reference, on paper it should be better in harsh conditions than encoders. I know B&R Automation uses resolvers on their servo systems and they have motors with that feedback.

Sure servo drives only have the parameter sets for the sure servo motors. This is not adjustable. That is why they cannot be used with 3rd party motors.

A Kollmorgen AKD drive will more than likely be able to talk to you old motor and resolver. Contact the factory.
