I have an STP-DRV-4850 that I have been trying to program that seems a little buggy. (It "faults-out " if power is not applied to the high voltage stepper power input first, then a slight delay must be used before applying the 5volt power) At one point the "surestep pro " software told me I needed to update the firmware. (It has older firmware 1.01r ) However I have not been able to locate the update software or firmware binaries. Anyone know if this can be done?

There is no firmware update tool available for the SureStep software.
I would suggest that you call in about your 4850 and talk to one of the techs. They may be able to help you determine why this is happening.

Where are you applying 5 Vdc? The 5 vdc on the terminal strip is an output voltage and not an input.
