I am researching a simple single axis servo system. I am wondering if it is possible to trigger the preset positions with the digital inputs? Has anyone ever done multiple positions without a controller with this servo drive?

You do not need a PLC. All commands can come from discrete digital inputs on the interface board. Set up #of full revs and partial revs for each position register.

There are some videos on automationdirect.com and other instructional matter that will help you.

Thanks for the info. If it is possible to do I am sure I can figure out how to make it work. I haven't had time to watch any of the videos yet. The next questions that I need answered before I go ahead and purchase a system is can you assign different inputs to different positions and can you have one input trigger a sequence of moves?

Please also take the time to look through the application notes . Between the videos, and the application notes you will be able to determine what is possible as well as what hardware will be required.
