Hello all, I have an Ironhorse MTR-P50-3BD18 AC Motor connected to a GS1-10P5 AC Drive. My problem is that the drive output is controlled by a knob that must be turned by hand. Can someone recommend an AC drive whose output is controlled by a DC voltage? I want to use a program (Labview or Simulink/ControlDesk) to control the drive output and, consequently, the motor speed. If no one knows of a specific item, can you give me some things to look for if I find one (i.e., which specs have to match for the motor and drive)? I looked through the Automation Direct website for such an item, but I did not find anything. However, I am new to this piece of equipment, so I may not have looked in the right places. Thanks!

The GS1 can be controlled by rs485.
If your computer has a real serial port, and the labview or simulink software can control by modbus RTU then get a rs232 to rs485 converter. The FA-ISOCON is an example of one.
If no serial port is available then an ethernet system might work for you, if the software can communicate via modbus TCP. you would need a GS-EDRV for the ethernet.
You can have access to all of the drives controls via the comm link, run, stop, speed, amp draw, drive running status, everything including the kitchen sink!

Check the function of the analog input on the drive. Can the computer programs you mention direct an interface of some type to produce a 0-10 volt signal?

Milldrone - thank you for the advice. I did not know the purpose ofthe rs485 port, and I think your solution will work. I will probably get a converter as you recommend and then go from there. I will have to see if the manual is still here.
