Hello All, 8 weeks ago all I knew about stepper motors was how to spell it. Since then I have purchased a STP-DRV-4035 Drive, a STP-MTR-23079 Motor, and a STP-PWR-3204 Power Supply. My application requires only manual directional positon control. I have attached a KOYO PHD-100-B-S handheld pulse generator for manual axis control. I have coupled this to a ball screw / linear ball slide assembly and am using a Mitutoyo ID-H digital indicator with a resolution of .00001 ". With the combination of the microstepping ability and screw lead I can attain a positional resolution of .00002 " (very critical). My question is if anyone knows if there is a controller, motors with encoders, manual jog option and operator interface that will show the same resolution for two axis control. If anyone has any suggestions I would be most grateful Thank You Very Much.

If I'm understanding you correctly, your looking to have a operator interface to display your resolution down to 0.00001 and on the operator interface a increase/decrease button that would control the direction of the stepper right? I 've done several stepper projects and if I'm following you correctly you would need a 25,000ppr encoder attached to the end of your ball screw to be used as your feedback. If you do a quadrature count off the encoder you'd end up with 100,000 pulses per revolution or .00001 per pulse. This is assuming your ball screw is 1 " of travel per revolution. What I 've done in the past is used the CTRIO modules to accept my quad encoder pulses (to tell me where the position actually is), a C-More display to display my resolution, and set up your PLC program for Dynamic positioning. On the C-more display I use a numeric entry that tells my CTRIO module to output that number of pulse to the stepper drive. Hopefully this makes a little bit of sense if this is what your looking for.
