Hi, I have a DirectLogic 205 with a 260 CPU and am hoping to connect to a Ethernet/IP enabled device. What modules and software are needed to accomplish this? The online videos seem to show that it is possible to do. Thanks for any guidance! Todd

You need a Do-more CPU. No way to get to EIP with a DL260.

At one point I was told there were no plans for Ethernet/IP on the D2-2xx and H2-ECOM100. I don't think that has changed.

OTOH, if you can replace the 260 with an H2-DM1E you are in luck. But there are some modules and rack comms that are not supported by Do-more. And you would get to rewrite or at least convert and tweak the DirectLogic ladder to Do-more. But you would probably like it better in the end.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not familiar with Do-more and may have to start looking into that. I just saw the 205 series as one of the PLCs used to connect using Ethernet/IP in the U-can-do-it video and thought that it was doable.

It is, but you have to utilize the H2-DM1E 205 Do-more CPU that comes with a built-in Ethernet port, not a 260 CPU/ECOM100 module. If they are new, feel free to box up your 260 and ECOM100 module, save a few bucks, and get a H2-DM1E.

    ...I'm not familiar with Do-more...

If you are familiar with the DL 205/206/250/260 you are already mostly familiar with DoMore. The editor environment is essentially the same.

The code building (is/can be) very much the same.

The extras may be ALOT to absorb at first, but it will come.

Are there plans to enable both Explicit (currently enabled) and Implicit (I/O) messaging with DoMore? In order to utilize Implicit messaging, the only AD option appears to be Productivity. IMO, this is more efficient for use with drives.

Implicit messaging requires a considerably more complicated stack. We are planning to offer it in the form of an option module, but probably won't add it to the current generation of Do-more CPUs.
