n102516 I am just learning to use Directsoft6 for a project that includes a 405 440. I have a project file I need to document and it has a timer with E/R on the left. I 've read through the 405 manual and couldn't find any reference to that particular notation. Is it set and reset? Anything special about this timer? Looks like a T type timer from page 119 of the 405 manual, is that correct? Thanks.

    Enable & Reset

I believe that iif the timer is not enabled, it gets reset.

If you see the [EN and a separate [RST, then you have individual control over the reset function

Ok that makes sense. And if I understand the manual right, the T0 part means it's the first timer in the program, while the K100 is the timer preset in 10ths of seconds in Hex, correct?

T0 is the first address for a timer but it doesn't have to be the first in the program or even there at all; you can have T13 for the only timer if you want. The timer preset is actually BCD which is sort of a subset of Hex, no letters allowed so K10 is 1.0 second BCD (not 1.60 seconds).

Strangely enough, I had to connect to a D4-440 just today. I didn't have a cable even, but figured out an Allen-Bradley PLC-5 25 pin cable shares the same cable pinout (close enough) as the D4-440 Port 2.

Yeah. What was the part number on that cable?

    Thanks.

Awesome, thanks. I'm trying to understand what's being done here. Could someone explain whether it makes sense? It looks like they 're loading the accumulator address with an Octal 10 then replacing it with 6000 instead of pushing it down. Wouldn't the 10 be deleted? n102524 Any help would be appreciated.

I have never used this (and never done more than modify code in DL405s) but that looks wrong. The first LDA should be a LD table size in hex. That LDA will work but it is loading a value for table size of 8 (10 octal = 8 decimal = 8 hex). The LDA O6000 is the destination, the start of the table V6000 (but not really, V6001 is?). The ATT K4 doesn't look legal per the manual. It is supposed to be a Vmem location and the value in it will be moved to V6001 and what is in V6001 will move to V6002 etc. V6000 could get preloaded with a count and you know? I don't think I understand the purpose of all that ATT stuff. But your code does not look legit unless someone was playing some tricky game. Sorry I can't be more (or any even) help.

Wow, it sure is "fun " trying to figure out the old magic keys* to get TI405.EXE editing. I did manage it though and strangely found it also will allow either V or K for the ATT box. Perhaps it will let you fill the tables with '4 ' each scan the rung is true?

*Gotta love the old DOS boops and beeps when I tried the wrong keys. Sounded like Pong.

Hmm, seems the D0-06 has the same instructions and I can remote to mine at work. It does indeed load a value of 4 into V6001 and increments the value in V6000 each time the rung is true. After 8 transistions, I have V6000-V6010 at 8,4,4,4,4,4,4,4,4. Each Vmem's contents were pushed toward V6010. After 8 it won't push anymore. It's easier to open a data view and watch than explain it.
