We have de-commissioned some equipment at our facility. I have removed 3 DL06 units (D0-06DR) from the equipment. These were originally installed more than 10 years ago. If I want to re-use them for other projects, will updating the firmware be all that is needed? Will these work as well as a new purchased unit? Thanks for the help.

You would need to write your own program for your application/process.
A firmware update would not be required. However it may be useful if there are any issues that a firmware update may correct.
You may intend for firmware to mean user programming.
Will these work as well as a new purchased unit?
Possibly. If there are no failed i/O or other issues with the hardware.

Kewaki,
Thank you for the input. I know I'll need a new user program. You helped clarify between required and useful. I remember having to update the firmware in one of these in the past before I could use i-boxes. The units have run flawlessly during their time in the equipment, so I am assuming no hardware issues. I guess what I am asking is, are there any new features other than i-boxes that would warrant a firmware upgrade. Again, thank you for your help.

find the firmware download page for the cpu and intelligent modules. check the readme files for the current and the firmware release(s) up to and including the latest.
Only you know what fw rev you have, you haven't told us.
