Newbie analog sensor connection question

I have a DL205 PLC with the F2-08DA-1 analog module. I bought an IR Temp sensor (Raytek MI3-20LTSCB3) that I would like to connect to that module. The IR sensor has 4-wires (White, yellow, green, & brown). I'm not sure how to connect this sensor to the analog input so the PLC can read it. I'm new to this and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Make sure you have manuals for both the analog module and the sensor. Wire colors alone mean nothing.

If you need other help provide links to both manuals.

Please post the wiring info supplied with the thermometer. Raytech does not allow me to download without product registration.

Thanks. I didn't know if the wire colors were standard or not. I'm trying to get that information from Raytek now as it wasn't included with the sensor shipment.

Unless you have a typo in the module number, you 're up a creek without visible means of locomotion.

Modules ending in "DA " are analog OUTPUT modules (they convert the D igital information in the PLC program to an A nalog signal). Analog input module part numbers end in "AD ".

Do you have just the sensing head? (perhaps from e-bay?)

It looks like it is likely that one must have the Raytek "communications box " (e.g. RAYMI3COMM) for signal conditioning. The "box " seems to have labeled screw terminals rather than loose wires.

Sorry, typo. It is the F2-08AD-1 Analog module (not DA). (are my fingers dyslexic?)

Yes, I am being told by the local Raytek supplier that I do need the communications box too. I have multiple sensors I'm wanting to use and I believe that each communication box can service four sensors. I'm looking into the output of the box to make sure it can output all four sensors independently. If not, I may have to find another sensor option.

    Bronco,

    Which CPU do you have?

The Raytec may be able to talk MODBUS, or another protocol that the PLC can understand. If so you may not need an analog card.
