Hey Guys, I recently started working with a D0-05DD and directsoft 5 for a lifecycle test apparatus. I had the DS5 installed on a laptop running win 7 for a while and during that time i could have the Data View window up and edit the internal relay states while the ladder was running. I switched to a desktop pc running win 8 and now when i have the data view window up i can see the state of everything i'm monitoring, but i can't change the state. fyi, yes i'm aware of the edit button which turns edit function on and off. when the edit is off i lose the 3rd column and the edit buttons across the top of the window. when it is on i have the 3rd column and the buttons, but the buttons are blank. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall DS5 with not effect. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm guessing that you are using DirectNET protocol for your communication's link from DirectSOFT (vs. K-Sequence or ECOM protocols).
DirectNET does NOT support writing to individual bits, hence they cannot be edited.
Make sure the port you are using on the PLC side supports K-Sequence or ECOM (prefer ECOM protocol if using an ECOM module). If it does not, you will have to change to a different port on the PLC side.
If you are connected to a port that supports K-Sequence or ECOM, shut down DirectSOFT but keep DSLaunch running. Right click on the specific comm link in DSLaunch below the Comm Links tree node at the bottom of the left view. Select Edit Link. Click on the Protocol tab and change it from DirectNET to ECOM or K-Sequence.
Now re-open your project that is using that modified link and you should be able to modify bits in your Data View (and perform Runtime Edits, et. al. which K-Sequence/ECOM protcols support, but not DirectNET).

Does your Data view window look like the .jpg? if yes, then right click on the edits column> select options, then under the data view tab, you will see 'bit display settings '. If they look blank, then click on one and select a new button, mine are set for On and Off. Hope this helps.
