Connecting to a DL260

Hello all, I seem to be having some trouble connecting to a DL260 with either a serial connection or an RS232 cable. Not sure what's going on, but every time I try to connect I get an error communicating with target device message. I have directsoft 5 and the unit is a Direct Logic 205 with a DL260 cpu and there is also a D2-16NA and a D2-08TR with this unit as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
