I bought a used 105. It is an F1-130DR. It has been over 20 yrs. since I played with these and I 've got a problem. When I hook it up and open direct 100, I see the run light flashing and it won't connect no matter what I do. I keep getting data errors and something about a key switch. On the bottom it says "Paused 130 " or words to that effect in yellow. How can I clear all this so I can start clean?

Normally, there are two modes of a PLC, RUN and PROGRAM. However, if you happen to do a RUN mode edit of the logic, the PLC goes to PAUSE mode DURING THE DOWNLOAD of the program, then the PLC would go back to RUN (if there were no Syntax Check errors). It appears that your 130 (the actual model number) is stuck between RUN and PROGRAM, i.e. PAUSE.

If you click on the PAUSE "mode " panel in the Status pane, you should be able to switch the PLC back into PROGRAM mode. Do NOT put it in RUN mode until you have a program in there that YOU wrote (and know what it will do).

If the RUN LED is flashing the PLC is in firmware update mode.

You will need the DL105 Firmware Upgrade Tool to try to restore the firmware.

A little confused... You say it won't connect, but then you say you 're getting data errors & can verify that the plc is in Pause mode?

Also, if you 're connected, you should be able to change the mode of operation by PLC/MODES from the toolbar of the DS software

    Confused also

Last night the bar on the bottom was yellow and said Paused:130KSeq. But it would not connect. I got a "comm link failed " and a screen that had data error 7 times. Tonight the bottom bar is red and says Error!: KSeq. I have tried running the firmware update and it says O S Loaded, but there is a yellow exclamation next to it and the byte count is two less than the file size. The power light is on and the run light flashed rapidly like it is supposed to, and when I cycle the power, the run light goes back to a slow flash. The CPU light is not on, I just saw some cross glow from the power light last night. I hope I haven't added to the confusion.

As much as I hate to say it, I think it is dead. The firmware tool should stop the RUN light from flashing if it was just the firmware missing.

If you are replacing this unit you may want to look at the 05 PLC. Much better than the 105. (IMO)
