How fast will a standard counter work on D0-06DR. At max line speed I should be getting 11 pps from the prox. X0 should be able to handle that I think, but I’m not sure if the counter can. The prox has 8 triggers per RPM. My intent is to capture the count at 8 and compare that with time to come up with line speed. I think I could do it all without a counter and use one pulse to the next but I don't think the trippers are spaced the same and I don't won't the display jumping around. I don't think scan time will be a problem. any thoughts would be helpful, thanks

It is more than how fast the counter can count.

    For non-high speed inputs:

    1. Maximum Scan time.

    2. Input On/Off time. This must be added to scan time.

    3. Add about 10% or so for fudge factor to this total time to be sure that the PLC will see the transition every scan.

For high speed inputs using Mode 10 or Mode 20:

    1. 7KHz is the max.

    Thanks ADC

When I finish building the panel I guess I 'l play with it for a while before I ship it out.

In the end it seems that most of my problems have been solved this way and I get the added bonus of understanding that comes with tinkering.
