Hello, I have a small machine with DL205 system. It has a DL240 CPU, 2 input cards and 2 output cards. No analog. Several times over last month the machine stops and I notice CPU run light not lit. Cycling power solves the problem. After first couple times I did install a new CPU hoping that would alleviate the problem but it hasn't. I have went online prior to cycling power and don't see any alarms. I am also able to switch back to run mode via DirecSoft 5. Any way to catch this issue with programming??? Thanks, Bob

Not really. You have a power or noise issue of some sort. Power and noise are about the only things that will drop a PLC out of run mode.

It could be that you have unsuppressed coils somewhere on the power line causing spikes in the power, it could be that there is a large motor somewhere else that is turning on and off and causing the issue, you could have a bad ground that is letting noise into the PLC, or it might be that you have a floating neutral.

One other possibility is that there is noise coming into the PLC through a communications line that might be hooked to an HMI or some other device.

There are many other reasons, but these are usually the top suspects.

    Thank you,

There is nothing connected to com ports on this. It is however running a dielectric tester @ 18,000 volts. I have serval of these in service but this is only issue. I will check power and possibly install a powerline filter.

    Thanks,

    Bob
