Password protect it (Using capital 'A ' followed by 7 digits if you have an HMI). Then check out DNLoader in the Directsoft Launch panel. This allows you to create a down loadable only form of the project. You have to use the programmed units or an identical type. They only need a PC and the appropriate cable. The project can't be opened for viewing or editing. They don't need Directsoft and, even if they do, they can't open this form.

I'm not sure what your problem with DNLoader is. According to this PDF flowchart If the DNLoader DAT file has the same password as the target PLC (or if the target PLC has no passwored - like a new empty PLC) then the DNLoader doesn't prompt for the password.

It appears to only prompt for a pass word if the target PLC password is different than that stored in the DAT file. Then it must be the password in the current PLC.

Well,my problem is-i built a machine for company X,i provided them with a back up copy of a program which they might need if PLC loses program or CPU replaced etc etc etc....the machine i built ,programmed to do XYZ....(that's what i was paid for) but easily modifiable to do XYZABCD.....etc if you have the source code ,so if customer has to put password when using DNLoader,i mean the same one as of PLC,so he can just easily get Direct Soft for $500 and upload the code,but we talking buisness.... .

For example it is easily done with S7 PLCs you password protect some or all blocks in your program so you do not even need to password protect PLC....you can still upload/download the program but you can not see the code of protected blocks.

I haven't messed with Passwords or DN loader, because everything I do is for in house use. However, I think what Bernie was trying to point out is that when you save your program for use with DN loader, the proper password is supposed to be saved in that file. If the proper password is there in the file, it will load without prompting for a password.
