Is there any guide to set up a dialup modem switch linking to DL260 through ethernet?

AlecTek, we have setup the dialup telephone modem MDM-TEL with a DL205 and a DL405. We used the serial port on the CPU. This communication is thru the telephone line, not the ethernet. You do not need an Ethernet module. You setup the link, and using DirectSOFT, your PC will dial the modem's telephone number, you should hear the "fax noise ", and you should connect. Check the MDM-TEL manual for info.

Connecting with the Ethernet module can also be done using an ethernet module and the internet.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the fast response.

    My case is like this:

A dial in ethernet switch modem (SLX-5MS-MDM) connects PLC DL260, HMI EA7, and a computer through ethernet. ip address would be 192.168.0.10, 11, 12, 13.

I use my laptop to dial in the switch with a username and password. There are two problems:

    1) I configured Windows Xp a new network connection with a modem, and I can connect to the switch which says TCP/IP connects successfully, but IPX/SPX not. At this point, I tried to connfigure the DSLaunch a comm. link, but I don't know how to let the Comm.link use the existing and already in communication link.

    2) If I don't dial manually. I configure the Comm. link in DSLaunch, but there is no where I can set the username and password, so I have no clue how it can dial in itself.

It sounds like you have an Ethernet cable from your PC to the Modem? Once you have "the network " established, an Ethernet Comm Link in DSLaunch with higher timeout values talking TCP/IP to 192.168.0.xx should "just work ". However, I don't think it is possible for DSLaunch to "initiate " the phone call - you'll have to do that manually.

My PC? You mean the customer computer? That is a monitoring computer with LookoutDirect running on it.

My Laptop will dial the Switch, using public phone line, and from the switch there is ethernet lan connecting all the PLC, HMI and Lookout .

The switch is set as a server. And PPP protocal will be used to connect to the PLC from my laptop.

I will try a higher timeout see if it works.

    Wow Great!

I enlarged the number from 25 to 25ms, not working, and then 2500ms, it's working.

But, no luck with the C-more Panel, There seems no place to increase the time latency. Every time it stops due to timeout in the middle of transfering the program.

I can connect to the C-more Panel, and get panel info, etc, but my program is about 3Mb, the process bar goes 1/3 and pops up the error.

Can you help me to increase the C-more (ea7) panel's timeout limit? Thank you first for the light you give to me.

I'm not familiar with c-More. Somebody else out there may know how to tweak the Ethernet settings.

If it can be done, I don't have the software on my home computer, it would still have to be downloaded to the C-More. Perhaps create a minimal project (1 screen, 1 object) which has the modified settings and download that. Then try the large project with its own modified settings. Of course, in between you'll have the small project showing. And if the large download doesn't work you are stuck.

What I mean it's working, is the connection between my laptop and the PLC, DL260. I can upload and download program without problem, just a little slow, 1.7kb/s.

But the C-more panel has no place for me to enlarge the latency. I only found 1 place which is actually the Comm. settings for my C-more andDL260. See the attached Picture.

I set them to maximum, but doesn't do anything better.

I had downloaded the whole projects with the setting i made in the last post through usb cable before I tried to download/upload the program through the telephone line, but useless.
