Hello Everybody. I am attempting to connect to my DL06 PLC. I have the GoldX GXMU-1200 USB to Serial converter with all the drivers installed properly and everything appearing as if it should work. I have it set on COM6, 9600 baud rate, odd parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit. When I try and connect / make a link through DirectSoft5 (newest build), it will not let me connect. It says Error Connecting to PLC, the Comm port may already be in use. But it is not. I have tried all COMM assignments from 1 through 9 and all do not work. I am running Windows7 Ultimate. Is there something I am missing or something I need to check / change in order to get this thing to work ? Thanks in advance. **EDIT: I am attempting to communicate through PORT1 on the DL06. I am using the D0-06DD2-D.

Try changing the COM port of your USB>Serial converter to COM 2, 3 or 4.

so any resolution to this problem? i am having the exact same issue, with slightly different specs, win7pro, D0-o6DR-D PLC, Hawking h-uc232s USB to serial adapter. i see the same results as above. i have tried to assign different USB ports and different drivers for the serial conversion device as well. DS5 software configuring the connection only wants to see COM1 or COM2. even when i assign the port number in devices to accomodate i still end up as above with it telling me cannot connect, same types of errors.

Go to control panel, device manager. Then select ports. Look for the USB to serial adapter and determine what com port its on. Let me know what port it shows it on.

The COM ports at first showed 1 and 2 as assignable (not used), 3-6 as used, and the rest open. I tried assigning the COM port the device was assigned to COM7, to COM1 and then COM2 using the software to try both of those COMS with no luck. After uninstalling the driver for the USB to serial and installing the newest driver, COM3 was assigned to the USB to serial device and then only COM6 was indicating as USED, 4&5 are now open. Perhaps this last step was due to being docked at the laptop docking station again, I do not know. weird though.

I just finished using an older WinXP laptop connected directly to the serial port on the computer to Port 1 on the PLC. I have the exact same results. I also noticed the Rx light on the PLC comes on when i plug into it. In addition, when i run the wizard and eventually get to a point where it tries to connect through "auto " it seems as if the computer is attempting to get through to the PLC, but never gets a response, "comms failed " flashes very quickly while it is trying to get through each COM# i have tried, at different baud rates as it tries to connect.

Are you using an additional cable attached to your USB to Serial adapter?

Is it possible you used this same cable when plugging into the XP machine?

Is it possible that this cable is a null modem cable?

The RX light should not come on when just plugging the cable in. This typically means that there is an issue with either the PLC port or the wiring.

What i found using windows7 it would assigned its own driver to the usb converter ( what ever chip the device used ) i would then update driver and select the Koyo one from the list.

@timo is not using a Koyo USB to Serial adapter, so the Koyo driver would be the wrong driver to install.
